We loved so many things about West Leonard Elementary before we purchased it from Grand Rapids Public Schools to convert it into a wedding venue. We loved that it meant so much to families in the community who went to school there. We loved that it was large enough to have dedicated ceremony and reception spaces so we wouldn’t have to do a flip. We loved that it was close enough to downtown Grand Rapids to make it a great weekend for your family and guests. But I remember standing outside in the old playground before we purchased it thinking “this just might be the best part!”
Leona Road (named after LeonaRD street) is one of the few wedding venues near downtown Grand Rapids that has an outdoor space big enough for your full cocktail hour. It’s also the perfect place to step outside when you need a breather after killing it on the dance floor! We secured permission for outdoor bar service first thing because, well, what’s cocktail hour without a drink in hand?! And that’s a tough thing to find in the city.
Some have asked if we do outdoor wedding ceremonies on the terrace? Truth… we haven’t, but we would! Outdoor ceremonies are popular but maybe the best part is we have plenty of space inside in case the weather isn’t all you hoped for. We’ve got you.
